The University of West Alabama’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites students from elementary to high school in and around Sumter County to the next in its series of Science Saturdays on November 5, 2016 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Bibb Graves Hall on the UWA campus. Dr. Balu Gokaraju, a UWA professor, will present a workshop entitled “Robotics and Industrial Engineering Technology.”

Participants will get an opportunity to see and learn the demonstrations of state-of-the-art 19-foot fully automated production line, controlled with programmable logic controllers and robotics. The demonstrations range from classical instrumentation controls to fully computerized programming controls of the motors.

Science Saturdays activities give K-12 students early exposure to the world of science and mathematics. The sessions create excitement and enthusiasm that students need to not only learn the basics of science, but also gain the tools to further their studies in the field.

The workshop is free and open to all children in grades 4-12. Spaces are limited. Email Rosie Campbell or call 205-652-3414 for more information and registration.
