University of West Alabama students recently selected several of their peers to serve as Student Government Association leaders for the 2016-2017 school year.

Hunter Winborne of Townley, Ala., was elected president after serving a previous year as attorney general. The senior business management major is the son of Rusty and Rebecca Winborne.

“I was very excited when I heard the results of the election. I am both happy and humbled to have the opportunity to represent the student body,” Winborne said.

“My future plan includes an increase in school spirit. I’ve seen a decline since my freshman year, and I truly want to see the spirit awakened before I graduate,” he explained.

Jonathan Knox of Moundville, Ala., will serve as vice president. He has also served as junior senator. The junior business administration major is the son of Doug and Denise Knox.

Adriana Stanton of Columbus, Miss., was elected business manager. The junior majoring in exercise science is the daughter of Amanda Barry and Kent Stanton.

Hannah Jackson of Toxey, Ala., will serve as secretary. She previously served as Hoover Hall representative and senator at large. A junior elementary and early childhood education major, she is the daughter of Tony and Theresa Jackson.
